Things have been anything but status quo this football season, except for where the Gehlke Bros. are concerned. Six weeks into the 2019 GBF campaign we find ourselves exactly where we’ve been since Week 3 — with Glenn leading the Surfy standings by a single game.

That is because for the third week in a row, Glenn and Sean managed to split an even number of splits. And while the net result might seem like a broken record, this week’s verse was a quiet one with just a pair of meaningful games on the schedule. Sunday morning saw the Senior Bro firing on all cylinders, going six-of-seven along with the early split victory in Minnesota’s 38-20 pasting of the visiting Eagles.

But the early magic deserted Glenn once the afternoon games got underway, and he went 0-5 for the rest of Sunday. That was good news for Sean, who picked up his lone split by sticking with the undefeated 49ers as they dumped their SoCal rivals, the Rams, by a convincing 20-7.

Ben had a chance to gain some ground in the overall standings after he became the only one to guess the outcome of Pittsburgh’s win Sunday night, but Lady Luck was not on his side in the Monday nighter, as the Lions gave up a late lead in Green Bay on the way to a 23-22 loss. In the end, we all finished with identical 8-6 records to conclude the abbreviated bye week. Our mutual correct predictions included New England, Carolina, Baltimore, New Orleans and Seattle. No one picked victors Houston, Denver or the New York Jets.
