The Senior Bro may be leading the GBF standings so far, but through four weeks of the 2019 season finding wins on Thursday night has been elusive. It looked like that drought might continue in Week 5, as the Rams faced the Seahawks in a battle for second place in the NFC West — one of four splits on the week for the Gehlke Bros.

The Rams, looking to recover from their embarrassing loss a week ago to Tampa Bay, seemed to be firing on all cylinders early on, and they went to the locker room trailing by just a point at halftime. They were up in the second half by as many as five before a late touchdown by Seattle to take a 30-29 lead set up what looked like a game-winning drive by the Los Angeles offense. Unfortunately for the Rams, Greg Zuerlein’s 44-yard field goal attempt sailed just to the right of the goal posts, and the Seahawks escaped with a gift.

There would be no gifts for Glenn, however, who failed to take advantage of his first Thursday night victory of the year. Sunday found three more splits on the schedule, Sean backing the visitors in each of them, and while the Senior Bro got one of the wins he needed when Carolina held on to defeat Jacksonville, 34-27, fate fell the Junior Bro’s way when the Ravens came back to tie the Steelers in regulation and then won the game in overtime on a Justin Tucker field goal, 26-23.

The afternoon contest between the Packers and Cowboys was a mostly lopsided affair, and although Dallas rallied late in the game to make things interesting, they couldn’t overcome their early mistakes that led to a 34-24 Green Bay victory. So Glenn and Sean each got a couple of splits and the Senior Bro’s 1-game Surfy lead remains the same.

Glenn, Sean and Ben all sported identical 9-6 records, so everybody wins! It’s not very often we’ve been able to say that. Road teams continued their dominance, taking eight of the 15 games to move to a record of 43-35 on the season. Our mutually correct picks included Houston, Minnesota, New England, Philadelphia, New Orleans and San Francisco. In the upset department, Oakland, Denver and Indianapolis managed to surprise us with wins.
