The road was the place to be in Week 2, with 10 of the 16 scheduled games won by the visitors. The Senior Bro took advantage of that stat on his way to winning three of four splits, giving the defending Gehlke Bros. Football champ his first lead of the season.

The tone for the week was set early when Tampa Bay won the Thursday nighter as the road team against a hobbled Carolina squad. While there were no splits on the line that night, the trend continued on Sunday morning, when Buffalo took it to the Giants, 28-14, in their second trip to the Meadowlands in as many weeks. That game, along with Green Bay’s 21-16 win at home over Minnesota, put the Senior Bro in a commanding position going to the afternoon.

Sean got a win he desperately needed when the Rams defeated the visiting Saints, 27-9, in a rematch of last season’s NFC title game that also saw New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees leave the game with an injured thumb.

That left Monday night’s matchup between the Browns and Jets to decide whether Glenn’s early lead would translate into ground gained or if Sean could salvage a tie. The Jets might need to salvage much more than that going forward, as their starting QB Sam Darnold is out indefinitely with mononucleosis, and backup Trevor Siemian took a hard hit in the second quarter that knocked him out of the game with a leg injury. Third-stringer Luke Falk failed to rally the squad, and it was Cleveland emerging with a 23-3 road victory that staked Glenn to a 2-game lead in the Surfy standings.

Glenn may have won this week’s Battle of the Bros, but it was Ben who emerged with the overall best record of 11-5 that helps him dig out slightly from his early season deficit. Glenn’s 10-6 mark was good enough for second, while Sean took third at 8-8. We were all accurate with our predictions of Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, New England, San Francisco and Kansas City. In addition to failing to pick Tampa Bay on Thursday night, we also whiffed on the L.A. Chargers — just two among the slew of roadies that picked up W’s in Week 2.
