There’s nothing like a vacation to cure what ails one. Perhaps that is why football teams look forward to their bye week each season, as it gives injured players a chance to recuperate before the quest for the postseason continues. They’ve got one up on the Gehlke Bros, however, as there is no bye week in the GBF season except those we create for ourselves by managing complete agreement on our weekly picks, as was the case last week. But in Week 13 we got back to business, as did the NawFuL with its anticipated Thanksgiving Day turkeys and a return to a full 16-game schedule.

Following a “boring” Thanksgiving that featured turkey in our cruise ship’s dining room and no contested games, there were three splits on the menu for Sunday, starting with two of the early matchups. Sean took the Titans-Colts 31-17 final, while Glenn kept pace with Pittsburgh’s 20-13 win over Cleveland in a rematch of the contentious game two weeks earlier that ended with fights, fines and suspensions. That made the rubber game in the late afternoon between the Rams and Cardinals more meaningful, and it was the Rams rebounding from last week’s embarrassing loss to best their division rivals by a score of 34-7.

The Senior Bro took 2-of-3 to record his first winning week since Week 2, inching closer to his brother in the Surfy standings. Glenn went 8-8, while Sean and Ben took second at 7-9. In addition to Chicago and New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day, we also concurred correctly on Green Bay, Kansas City and Seattle. No one picked Buffalo, Cincinnati, Miami, Tampa Bay, Washington or Houston to collect wins.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The Bros are homeward bound! Look for a more timely posting of Week 14 predictions and results.
