Halloween night notwithstanding, the most frightening thing about this October has been witnessing the unprecedented collapse of the Senior Bro’s prognosticating prowess, which started on Oct. 1 and continued unabated in Week 8 as Sean widened the growing chasm in the Surfy standings to 12 games.

It was the latest chapter in an increasingly familiar story this season, as Sean swept a pair of splits — Baltimore’s 40-0 destruction of Miami on Thursday night, and the Falcons’ 25-20 comeback over the Jets on Sunday morning — to add two games to his lead. It was the seventh winning week for the Junior Bro, and the fifth in a row with multiple game pickups. It wraps up a month in which Sean went 17-5 in splits; Glenn hasn’t won a split game since Pittsburgh’s upset of Kansas City in Week 6.

One need look no further than the Week 8 records to illustrate what a season it has been for the four-time defending GBF champ. Glenn lost ground despite going 10-3, his best mark since Week 2. That is because Sean was nearly perfect, going 12-1 to win the week. Ben wound up at 9-4 for third place. For once the favorites seemed to dominate, and we were all correct in our predictions of Minnesota, Cincinnati, New England, Philadelphia, Carolina, Seattle, Dallas and Pittsburgh. We all failed to forecast the win by Buffalo.
