The margin between victory and defeat can sometimes be as narrow as a game-winning field goal as time expires (just ask the 49ers) or a piece of paper (just ask the Raiders). Or in the case of the Gehlke Bros, it can be as huge as an entire football field — which is roughly the distance the Senior Bro would have to span in the next two weeks to prevent Sean from capturing the Surfy Trophy for the first time since 2012.

The epitome of what has been the 2017 GBF season was on full display in Week 15, as the Junior Bro swept three splits to reopen a 14-game lead as the year nears its conclusion. It wasn't merely that Sean won the week in a big way, but how he won it that seems significant. It started Thursday with Denver's 25-13 win at Indianapolis after the Colts held an early 10-0 lead. It continued on Sunday afternoon when the 49ers picked up their third straight win with a last-second field goal to beat the visiting Titans, 25-23. And it was made complete on Sunday night when Dallas eked out a late first-down which led to a go-ahead field goal in the Cowboys' 20-17 win at Oakland.

That Sunday nighter — the fifth such split that Sean has won this season — was decided on a controversial call in which a folded sheet of paper was used as a measuring device on a pivotal fourth-down play. Oakland Coach Jack Del Rio and other observers argued the paper showed the Cowboys had failed to reach the first-down marker. (There is no truth to the rumor that the paper was the Senior Bro's discarded picks sheet.) Whatever. In the end, it was Oakland's poor luck that QB Derek Carr lost the football as he dove for the goal line and what would have been the winning score. Instead the ball was turned over to the Cowboys, who ran out the clock. The clock is also running out on Glenn's four-year reign as GBF champion.

Sean dominated the week with a 14-2 record, while Glenn took home second place at 11-5. Ben… well, let's just say it was a bad week, even by King Chaos standards. He picked his was to a 4-12 finish to fall to .500 on the season and 38 games off the pace. And yes, he is now officially eliminated from the overall title chase — not that that was ever in doubt. We only got Baltimore and Atlanta across the board for their wins. We all failed to pick the Chiefs or Rams in theirs.
