Week 5 was a source of great anxiety for the Gehlke Bros, who both expressed concern Sunday morning that their slate of game predictions would result in personal disappointment. With five splits on the line, one thing was certain: at least one of them would be right.

Bye weeks in the NawFuL are always unpredictable, and we saw the results of that last week as the Chaos Kid extended his overall lead while the brothers battled to mediocre 8-7 finishes. If they were to improve on those results, it would rest on a handful of too-close-to-call pick-em matchups.

One of those was Philadelphia at Detroit. The Eagles came in undefeated, but the Lions have given them fits in the past during high-scoring games. Glenn chose the home underdogs while Sean stuck with the heavily favored visitors. Detroit led by 14 points before falling behind and ultimately retaking the lead on a late Matt Prater field goal. The lead stood when Philly quarterback Carson Wentz threw a pick on the final drive. The Senior Bro escaped with a 24-23 victory. Meanwhile, the visiting Titans thrashed the Dolphins, 30-17, and Sean found himself in the hole once again after the morning games concluded.

The Junior Bro caught a break when Hot-lanta took on undefeated Denver in the mile-high city. Matt Ryan and company had another great game, opening up a 10-point lead en route to a 23-16 victory as both teams moved to 4-1. But the win provided only a brief respite for Sean. As his Falcons were winning, it was a different story in Dallas where the Cowboys racked up a 4-touchdown lead before finishing off the Bengals, 28-14. Then the Bills worked their magic in a 30-19 win over the Rams, and suddenly the Senior Bro had opened up a 4-game lead in the Surfy standings.

It was unquestionably a huge week for the Senior Bro, who compiled an 11-3 record and briefly moved into an overall tie with Ben. That was before Monday night, when Tampa Bay sent reeling Carolina to its fourth loss of the season with a 17-14 final, and helped the Chaos Kid remain a game up on his dad. Ben and Sean tied for the week's second best record at 8-7. We all correctly picked Arizona, New England, Indianapolis, Minnesota and Pittsburgh. The only game we all missed was Washington's win.
