Shakin' all over
While 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was backslapping his way into the week's highlight reel up in Detroit with a handshake gone awry, Week 6 shook up the Gehlke Bros. Football season in its own right, tightening a contest that so far has been competitive. The Junior Bro may not be shaking in his shoes just yet at the turn of events, but on the eve of his Monday birthday it was Sean giving the presents to his older brother and nephew.
In a bye-shortened schedule there was just one split game for the Bros the Sunday night encounter between the Vikings and the Bears. Division rivalries are often tight affairs, and these two teams have a history of playing each other tough. But not Sunday night. Chicago ran up a big lead in the first quarter and never faltered on the way to a 39-10 win, which halved Sean's lead in the standings to a single game.
Glenn and Ben went on to win the week with identical 9-4 records, while Sean settled for 8-5. There was quite a bit of agreement in the picks, so we all guessed correctly on Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Baltimore, Oakland, New England and the Jets. We also had a few collective flops by missing out on Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and San Francisco which still can't get a fair shake from the Bros despite its 5-1 record.
