Lights out

The electricity failed at Candlestick Park on Monday night. Twice. But somehow the Steelers and 49ers saw through the darkness and managed to get in four quarters of football — well, perhaps three in the case of the Pittsburgh defense. There was a different sort of power failure on Sunday, as the previously undefeated Packers lost their first of the season in Kansas City, and the formerly winless Colts notched their first "W" at home against the Titans.

If all that wasn't enough to send shockwaves through the NawFuL, then how about this: Sean is on the verge of regaining The Surfy trophy he lost two years ago. Yep, Week 15's lone split victory may have sealed the deal for the Junior Bro. It came as the Raiders blew a 13-point fourth-quarter lead against the visiting Lions, upping Sean's lead in the Gehlke Bros. Football season to 7 games over the defending champ with just 32 games left to pick.

Sean won the week at 10-6, while Glenn was second at 9-7, and Ben brought up the rear at 7-9. We all mutually picked victorious Atlanta, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Arizona and New England. No one picked winners Miami, Washington, Carolina, Indianapolis, Kansas City or San Francisco.

MERRY CHRISTMAS... EVE: The jolly NawFuL elves have gifted us a full assortment of Saturday games next week in addition to the Thursday contest. We'll post our Thursday pick on the 22nd, and wrap up the rest of the predictions on Saturday morning. Ho, ho, ho.
