The Lost Weekend
It was the biggest crisis to hit Gehlke Bros. Football since we went online 11 years ago. With our trusty webmaster and statistician laid up in the hospital for a second weekend, it once again fell to the Chaos Kid to coordinate the Week 9 picks. Glenn phoned his in from the hospital, then Ben relayed them to Sean during the regular Sunday morning phone call. Only problem was, any record of this week's picks seems to have vanished like Jimmy Hoffa's body.
Ben swears he wrote the picks down, but the paper they were on was nowhere to be found three weeks later, despite an intensive search. It may have become a victim of the circular file. Sean, for whatever reason, didn't have a record of the picks in his computer. Glenn, who was still hooked up to IV tubes and cardiac monitor cables, never wrote down his own picks. It all added up to a mystery that took several weeks to resolve. In the end, being a football-related site, the Bros did what any football team out of options would do: we punted. Ultimately it was decided to try and recreate the picks from memory rather than throw them out and upset the balance of NawFuLdom. The "results" posted for this week are an approximation. We're pretty sure they are accurate for the Senior and Junior Bro, and while we have some reservations about those of the Chaos Kid, we're going on his word. So here they are, right or wrong, until physical evidence turns up to set the record straight. Based on the data at hand, Glenn won his sole split with Sean, giving him a 2-game lead in the quest for the Surfy. Ben's self-reported picks make him the weekly winner at 10-3, Glenn was 7-6, and Sean was 6-7. As we aren't entirely sure which teams we picked, we can't be certain of the six winners we apparently all agreed on, nor the two that we failed to predict, so we'll leave it at that... |
