Bipolar disorder
It's been a particularly black-and-white year, as far as good and bad teams go. Just five weeks into the season the Chiefs, Rams, Bucs and Titans all find themselves at 0-5 after Sunday's action. Meanwhile, the Vikings, Giants, Broncos and Colts all kept their perfect records intact, joining the idle Saints among the ranks of the league's elite. That's nine teams that have been thoroughly consistent, leaving 23 others that have been... well, less predictable.
The Chaos Kid shook off his Week 3 stumble to regain second place in the Gehlke Bros. season standings, cashing in on decisive victories by Atlanta and Seattle to best his elders for the week. Meanwhile, the race for the Surfy between Glenn and Sean got a tad tighter. With three splits on the line, Glenn used Denver's 20-17 overtime victory over New England and Miami's late victory over the Jets in a wild Monday night contest to gain a game over Junior Bro for the first time this year. That came despite Tennessee's embarrassing 31-9 loss at home to Indianapolis. The Titans, 10-0 to start last season, are already halfway to 0-10 in 2009. Who would have predicted? Ben's 10-4 record was tops for Week 5 and pulled him to within one game of Sean's lead. Glenn took second for the week with a 9-5 mark, while Sean went 8-6. We all correctly predicted wins by Minnesota, New York Giants, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Carolina and Arizona. Cleveland and Cincinnati both had us fooled this week. |
