Hey, the "Chaos Kid" has got game
Ben vowed at the beginning of the season that he would hang with the pack in this year's Gehlke Bros. Football standings, and after an impressive Week 5 he so far is doing just that. Ben's somewhat chaotic method of predicting winners fit comfortably with the chaos that is typical of the NawFuL's bye weeks, as he managed to dodge a couple of bullets that felled his more experienced opponents.
Ben followed the road less traveled in picking three road teams that emerged with victories the Falcons, Patriots and Steelers. Meanwhile, Bros Junior and Senior were trading fortunes in a couple of risky split games. Glenn capitalized on Miami's 17-10 home upset of San Diego (back-to-back wins for the once lowly Dolphins...) and appeared to be on the way to a Sunday sweep with Houston up by 17 points with less than five minutes left at home against Indianapolis. But Houston's erratic game seemed to have as many holes as the roof of hurricane-damaged Reliant Stadium, and Peyton Manning and company racked up 21 points in just over two minutes to escape with a 31-27 win. The result is that Glenn retains a 2-game advantage over Sean in the season standings, but Ben's week-winning 9-5 performance pulls him into second place, just one game out of the lead. Glenn and Sean recorded 8-6 marks. We all correctly guessed what would happen in wins by Carolina, N.Y. Giants, Denver, Arizona and Dallas. No one anticipated the wins by Washington or Minnesota. |
