Week 8 — Results

Season update — All tied up

Parity. It's not just for breakfast anymore. It is like a virus that spreads through the professional football community and infects all those who dare try to predict the outcomes of its games from week to week.

The Gehlke Bros. continued their misadventures in mediocrity in Week 8, somehow finding a way to split on five games yet ending up tied again for the fourth time this season. Sean wound up with the short straw this time, with Cleveland and the Jets providing the swing game. After bounding to a big lead early, the Jets managed to self destruct down the stretch and allowed the Browns to steal away the win on the road, aiding Glenn's cause in the process. The Senior Bro also got help from Denver's win at the *snicker* Stupor Bore champion Patriots' home field, and from Minnesota's romp over the visiting Bears. Sean's wins were convincing ones, with the Steelers taking it to Baltimore and Seattle spoiling Emmit Smith's big day at Dallas.

Glenn's week-best record was a mere 9-5. Sean finished at 8-6, while Ben struggled to a 7-7 mark. Despite his average showing, Ben still clings to an unofficial 2-game lead over his dad and uncle as we near the halfway mark in the 2002 season. He might have been a game better except that we convinced him not to change his pick of Jacksonville at the last minute. Wouldn't you know it that the visiting Texans would score their first road win?

Unanimous correct predictions this week included Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Tennessee and San Francisco. We were all wrong in the games won by Atlanta and Houston.
