Call it a Christmas miracle. Call it dumb luck. Call it what you will, but something remarkable happened in Week 16 that hasn't happened in six weeks Sean didn't gain any ground in the Gehlke Bros. Football season standings. But the wonders didn't cease there; Glenn managed to compile his long awaited 11-5 record, also a rare occurrence this season.
We split four games, with Glenn getting help from Minnesota's upset of Miami on Saturday and the Jets' crucial victory at New England on Sunday. Sean kept his 12-game lead intact when Seattle dumped the struggling Rams and the Chiefs held on for a 2-point victory over San Diego.
Much like most of the AFC, the Senior Bro is still mathematically alive with a week to play. But Sean's commanding lead has him in firm control of his destiny, which would appear to be a fourth consecutive Surfy trophy. The only real issue still to be decided is whether the Junior Bro can overcome his deficit against Ben. "The Kid" has been leading both Bros since early in the season, and although he again lost ground to his uncle (Sean took three of the five splits between them) he continues to lead by one game going into Week 17.
Glenn and Sean tied for the best records this outing at 11-5, while Ben was 10-6. We were all correct in out predictions of winning teams San Francisco, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Atlanta, Washington, Tennessee and Oakland. Losers that surprised us were New Orleans (who may have choked their way out of the playoffs by losing to Cincinnati) and Tampa Bay.
WE LOOOOVE SATURDAYS: Actually, the football gods love them, which is why we will commence our final week of mayhem a day early with predictions for Saturday games.
