Week 12 — Results

Season update — Sean leads by 4

OK, who forgot to tell the football gods that Thanksgiving is next week? In true NawFuL fashion, the schedule makers hauled out all their turkeys for a Week 12 feast — and the Gehlke Bros. got stuck with the carcass. We're talking baaaad. As in the likelihood of picking a loser was at least as good as of picking a winner. Even the invincible Junior Bro, Sean, barely managed to break even at 8-8.

So what the heck happened? Home teams won the week, first of all. They were 11 of 16, which didn't bode well when we were banking on the visitors to do better. Second, there were some upsets, such as Denver and the Saints losing, and the Niners getting thrashed on Monday night. It added up to a brutal week for your prognosticating trio.

Sean capitalized on big wins by Miami and Tampa Bay to tack on two more games to his season lead over Glenn, but Ben still has a 4-game edge overall with just five weeks to go. Sean was 8-8, Ben 7-9, and Glenn brought up the rear with a dismal 6-10 mark. We were all correct with our call of Atlanta, the Jets, Pittsburgh, Chicago, New England and Oakland. We were universally wrong on our recommendations of New Orleans, Kansas City, Jacksonville, the Giants, St. Louis, Denver and San Francisco — but then you aren't taking our recommendations seriously are you?

A FOR-WHAT-IT'S-WORTH PROGRAMMING NOTE: Thursday is the real Turkey Day, and we'll have our predictions for the day's side dishes up by game time in Detroit. (Keep those doggie bags handy, Lions fans. If you don't use 'em to barf in you can always stick 'em over your head.)
