Season update: Sean leads by 2
Need any more proof as to how inside-out the NawFuL has become? Just take a look at the Bros.' wacky records from Week 7 (or is it 6?). How often does someone go 5-8 and come out the big winner for the week? That's exactly what Ben did in a week that saw his dad and uncle stumble in every conceivable way as the favored teams fell and some surprises emerged.
Glenn may have finished a forgettable 4-9, but three of those correct predictions were splits that helped trim the season deficit in the Gehlke Bros. Football competition to two games behind Sean. Winners for the Senior Bro included Cleveland at home over the defending Super Bowl champs, Chicago on the road in Cincinnati, and the Redskins who tried very hard to choke but finally found a way to score a field goal in OT to knock off Carolina. Sean was saved from the sweep by the Rams' win over the Jets, one of only two games he correctly predicted en route to a 2-11 week.
The big story after six weeks of regular season play has to be Ben, who for the season now holds a three-game edge over Sean. He is not an official participant in the Gehlke Bros. competition so is thus ineligible for the Surfy trophy at season's end, but the fact that he is currently leading his "more experienced" picks partners at this stage in the season is nothing short of miraculous.
We all correctly predicted Tennessee's win at winless Detroit, but, as our collective record indicates, we goofed on a number of predictions. We missed wins by Atlanta, New England, San Diego, Arizon, Minnesota and Philadelphia. Heck, if Oakland and San Francisco were playing we probably would have missed them, too. Ready for Vegas? Naw.
