Week 4 — Results
Season update: Sean leads by 5
Workin' in a coal mine, goin' goin' down down, workin' in a coal mine, whoops!...
Pardon the musical introduction, but we're getting in deep as the young 2001 NawFuL season rolls along. First of all, we aren't even sure what week it is, thanks to the unexpected work stoppage in what would have been Week 2. The NawFuL big wigs wanna call this Week 3, but we're calling it Week 4 as it should be. Are they right? Are we wrong? Who really cares anyway so long as there's a football game or two on Sunday?
The question over what week it is really matters less to the Senior Bro right now than the trend in his splits with Junior Bro, which is unmistakably down down. Sean has taken seven of nine split picks so far, including four of five this week, to mount an imposing five-game advantage over Glenn in the Gehlke Bros. season competition. He did it with a little luck and common sense picks, steering clear of picking losers the likes of Washington, Buffalo and Arizona who boast a collective record of 0-8. Glenn's only bright spot in a dreary week was Minnesota's hard-fought win over Tampa Bay.
...Goin' goin' down down...
Sean easily won the week with a 9-5 record. Ben took second at 7-7, while Glenn limped to a 6-8 mark. We all called the wins by Green Bay, the Giants, San Diego, Oakland and Philadelphia. We were surprised by the unpredicted wins of New England (Patsies and wins don't go well together...), Baltimore, Cleveland and the mighty Niners!
