Season update: Sean leads by 4
We have decided that it is time to ban the NFC Central from inclusion in future Gehlke Bros. football picks. Let's face it, you can't figure out what these teams are going to do week to week anyhow. They lose when they should win and they win when they should lose. No wonder the experts refer to it as the NawFuL's "black and blue" division. For the Senior Bro, this week it became the "black and boo" division. accounting for two of his failed splits en route to Sean picking up another two games to add to his lead. Detroit remained winless after choking for the eighth time in a row, this time against Tampa Bay. And Chicago -- which had been one of Glenn's saviors in the past couple of weeks -- finally ran out of Sunday miracles against Green Bay. Just ban 'em all, we say.
In a week in which there were six splits, it was the AFC West that saved Glenn's hyde. Denver and Seattle both won at home over their more successful division rivals, San Diego and Oakland respectively. While Glenn mourned a Raiders loss along with Ben, at least he had a split victory to celebrate.
Speaking of Ben, our young protegé has taken a tremendous tumble in the last two weeks, going from a 3-game lead over his uncle Sean to a 4-game deficit, tied with his dad. He posted a 9-6 record, which was only good enough for third place this week. Sean scored the best mark, going 13-2, while Glenn was 11-4. We all were correct in predicting victories by New England, Saint Louis, Miami, San Francisco and the New York Giants. Amazingly, we went another week without collectively being stumped by any team.
