For the first time since Week 4 the Gehlke Bros. broke with tradition and came up with an odd number of splits a whopping five which meant that one of them would take the lead in the season competition for the first time in a month. For a while Sunday it appeared that Sean was headed for a big weekend as the Falcons fell to the Jets early and the Dolphins were struggling at home against the Patriots. But fate intervened. The Dolphins won in OT, the Seahawks took it to Ryan Leaf and company in Charger land, and the mighty Raiders knocked off the Bengals for their fourth straight win. The pathetic Panthers spoiled things by crumbling at home against the Bills, but the end result was that Glenn emerged with his first lead of the year. In fact, it is the first time Glenn has led since winning it all during the 1996 season.
There were many surprises in Week 8, but only Benji with his unorthodox style of making selections managed to cash in on them. Ben was an awesome 8-4, and sole beneficiary of the Saints' win. Despite breaking the tie, Glenn batted a mere .500 at 6-6, while Sean went 5-7. (Yeah, we both got clobbered, Bro!) We all missed Chicago's, Minnesota's and Pittsburg's victories, which all came on the road. In short, this was an ugly week.
