If you need an indication of how this season has shaped up for the Gehlke Bros., look no further than the now-infamous Thanksgiving Day game between the Steelers and Lions — a split game for the Bros. Sean's Steelers have the Lions by their ... er, tails ... most of the game. Then the Lions not only pull themselves off the carpet, but they manage to take the lead until the Steelers come back to send the game into OT. The momentum is swinging Pittsburg's way, but then comes The Flip. Everyone watching the game clearly heard the Steelers call the coin toss, but the ref gives the ball to the Lions. Nice Thanksgiving Day gesture that paves the way for a Detroit field goal and an undeserved victory for Glenn.
Hey, but a win's a win, and Glenn went on to collect another three of them on Sunday in split games, giving the senior Bro a seemingly insurmountable lead at the end of Week 13. Glenn has now gone nine straight weeks without losing ground in the 1998 picks competition.
For the week, Glenn finished 10-5, Benji was 9-6 and Sean went 6-9. We all called the wins of Green Bay, Miami, the 49ers and the New York Jets. We stumbled badly on losses by Dallas (looks like the Vikings are for real!), Chicago and the Raiders.
NOTE: Once again there is a Thursday game on the schedule for Week 14. We will post the pick for that game only on Thursday. Other picks will be posted as normal on Sunday. (Special note to the NFL: Abolish Thursday and Saturday games!!!)
